Quality
The Charles Darwin University library provides all CDU students and staff, students and staff from other universities visiting or living in the Northern Territory, and members of the general public with an information service of the highest quality.
Our aims are to:
- Provide access to sources of information relevant to clients
- Assist clients to use library facilities and resources to their full advantage
- Assist clients to become information literate
How we measure our success
The library uses a range of performance indicators to monitor performance in achieving its objectives. Progress against these indicators is reported internally through the library's Operational Plan and externally to the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL). The information we provide to CAUL enables us to benchmark our performance against other university libraries and make improvements accordingly. The library currently uses the following performance indicators:
- Client satisfaction
- Document delivery (fillrate and turnaround time)
- Materials availability
Work is currently being undertaken to develop and implement performance indicators for reference services and information literacy.
Feedback
To achieve the highest quality service, we need two way interaction with our clients. Your comments and suggestions enable us to measure how well we are achieving our aims and finding new ways of improving our services within the limits of available funding, services and facilities. To provide feedback on the library's facilities, resources and services:
- Speak to any member of staff in any of the campus libraries
- Use the library suggestion box located on the Service Desk at each campus library
- Use the electronic suggestion box
- Write to the Associate Director, Client Services.
