RESEARCH SUPPORT

The Library provides a range of support services for research staff and students at Charles Darwin University:

Library Collections

Library staff work with academic and research staff to maintain the currency and relevance of the collection by acquiring resources in a variety of formats. Particular focus is being placed on the University’s current research priorities which include desert and tropical knowledge with emphasis on indigenous knowledge, and addressing problems of importance to the peoples of the region. The Library also has a closed access Special Collection which includes material on East Timor, Eastern Indonesia and the Northern Territory.  CDU staff and CDU postgraduate students who are undertaking research, can request access to the Collection.

Research Databases

The Library subscribes to a number of electronic databases that meet the needs of researchers in a wide range of disciplines. Databases enable access to both full-text documents, as well as citations, and include journal articles, conference proceedings and theses. Major databases include Science Direct Freedom Collection, Web of Science, Emerald, SocIndex, JSTOR and Informit.

 InterLibrary Loans

Where materials are not available on site, CDU Library is able to use the inter-library loan service to obtain books, copies of journal articles, theses, conference proceedings, videos and so on from other libraries, nationally and internationally. Referencing

Referencing is a standardised method of acknowledging the sources of information and ideas you have used in an assignment. At the end of your essay, you need to include a list of references or bibliography of materials used in writing the assignment. The most important aspects of using any style of referencing are consistency and accuracy.
