- Who can use this service?
- CDU Staff and CDU students living over 80km from Darwin or Alice Springs, or in an isolated area, e.g. Bathurst Island.
- CDU Staff and CDU students residing overseas (this is limited to paper articles and online services).If you reside overseas, you may be able to join a library nearby for access to books.
- Open Universities students studying CDU subjects.
- Students who are unable to access the library through disability or who are in prison are also able to use the service.
- Prescribed text books and readings
- Your lecturer will supply you with a list of prescribed textbooks, readings and other resources for your units. As textbooks and required readings are in high demand and likely to be recalled to lend to other students the Library recommends you purchase your own copies.
Textbooks and required readings can be purchased from the CDU Bookshop. You can also check whether any of your texts are available second-hand through the CDU Bookshop's buy-back scheme. Your lecturer or information on Learnline can offer you further advice on this matter

- Borrowing
- Borrowing items from the CDU Library Collection is restricted to those residing within Australia
- The Library pays for items to be sent out you are responsible for the return postage cost.
- Request items by filling out the Distance Library Services Request Form.
- Items held in the Short Term Loan Collection are not posted out.
- If you come on campus and wish to borrow materials or use the library's student computers you will need get a student card.
- Managing your loans
- See Managing your loans for more information about renewing and recalls.
- Copies
- Copies of printed journal articles or book chapters or pages from the CDU Library Collection will be sent to you.
- Access to databases.
- Student or Staff Computer Account required supplied by ITMS.
- Interlibrary Loans
- are only available to Postgraduate students and Staff. See Interlibrary Loans
- Join a nearby University
- If you live near another University library, consider joining it as a Reciprocal borrower. This will save you postage costs involved in returing books to us.
