Where do I start my research?

A good way to start your research is to define your topic by using subject dictionaries and to
find background information in encyclopaedias such as:

Gives contact details of Australian and New Zealand educational organisations - government departments and authorities, higher education and VET institutions, and professional, curriculum, research and special interest groups.

Australian Education Index - AEI Plus Text
Produced by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts sources at all levels of education and related fields.

A searchable database of training materials and the ability for members to transact standard licences to use and adapt materials and to negotiate individual licences based on a common framework.

AusStats  
Australian Bureau of Statistics is the statistical core of the ABS Web site available to students and staff of all Australia's Universities. It includes full text files (such as spreadsheets) that can be downloaded. A price will be given, but this is just for recording purposes. There is no charge for Charles Darwin University staff or students.

Based on the journal indexing of the database Australian Public Affairs Information Service (APAIS), which is produced by the National Library of Australia and includes full text

MAS Ultra - School Edition EBSCOHost
Designed specifically for high school libraries, this database provides full text nearly 600 popular general interest and current events publications with information dating back as far as 1975 for key magazines.  Also provides more than 500 full text pamphlets, 268 full text reference books, 82,968 biographies, 90,915 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily.

Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of over 515 full text journals, including nearly 350 peer-reviewed titles.

PsycINFO EBSCOhost
Indexes and abstracts journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations, all in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines.

Sociological Collection
