Where do I start my research?

A good way to start your research is to define your topic by using subject dictionaries and to

How do I find journal articles (Databases)?

The library holds journals in print and electronic formats. The best way to access articles in these
journals is by using the databases listed below. When you find an article you want to read, use the
Library Catalogue
and the E-journals list to see if we hold a print copy or have access to the
electronic copy in full-text. Some databases listed will have direct links to the full-text article. The

Indigenous Knowledge databases

APAIS -Australian Public Affairs Information Service  Informit

produced by the National Library of Australia, is a bibliographic database that indexes articles from the social sciences and humanities.

ATSIROM: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander - Online Informit

Contains 10 separate databases, such as AEI-ATSIS - Australian Education Index, ATSI Health Bibliography, Indigenous Australia and FNQ - Far North Queensland collection

INFOKOORI

is an index to the Koori Mail, a national fortnightly newspaper published in Lismore, NSW, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Land and Water News

is Australia's only independent, comprehensive digest of news and developments in the land and water field.

Native Title Infobase

This database includes selected material commencing from 1839 to the present day and covers all aspects of native title.  The infobase gives reference to Australian material including journal articles, book chapters, books, conference papers, reports and press clippings. Also includes relevant material from other jurisdictions such as New Zealand, United States, Canada Africa and Asia.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Visual Arts Database - NATSIVAD - Discovery Media

This database, compiled by Belinda Scott on behalf of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, consists of over 5,000 artist records.
