Lending information

University Library Australia is a national borrowing scheme that allows all staff and students of Australian universities to borrow from other university libraries. ULA is not intended to replace the home institution as the primary supplier of information resources and services.
Non-CDU students and staff
Northern Territory residents studying at other Australian universities and living within 80km of Darwin, Palmerston or Alice Springs may become members of CDU Library under the ULA scheme.
Borrowing is in person (ie no off campus services are provided) at any campus within 80km of the campus where you joined. This means reciprocal borrowers registered at Casuarina can use Palmerston and vice versa.
Membership will not be given for a period of less than three months. See Lending services for more information.
This reciprocal borrower membership is provided free of charge upon presentation of:
- Photo ID
- Copy of current enrolment form
- Staff are to have a copy of a letter of offer of employment or a current payslip
- Proof of residency in the Territory (within 80km of the nearest CDU library campus ie Alice Springs, Palmerston and Casuarina)
- valid & current email address
Please note that borrowing entitlements are subject to change without notice.
Open Universities Australia students
CDU students enrolled with Open Universities Australia (OUA) can use their CDU student card as their library card and use their CDU login to access databases.
OUA students studying CDU subjects may use the Off Campus Library Services or, if living within 80km of a Campus Library, may join as a Reciprocal borrower. OUA students studying CDU subjects can login to databases and E Reserve. Contact External Student Support for your password.
OUA students enrolled at another University can join as Associate members and the fee of membership is $82.50.
CDU staff and students
All current CDU staff and students are eligible for membership with any of the participating universities. Please take the following documentation with you when are applying for reciprocal membership:

- Copy of current enrolment form (essential)
- Staff are required to have a copy a letter of indemnity from your supervisor (in replacement of staff card), stating you are currently employed, your position and length of tenure.

Membership privileges, such as type and number of items you can borrow, length of loan period, access to electronic services and the Internet, are at the discretion of the Library at which you register. Make sure you pick up a brochure on their membership privileges.
VET
The TLNRBS scheme allows VET (TAFE) students and staff to register and borrow materials in person from any other participating host TAFE library in another state in addition to services from their own home Library.
