Business & Government
The Foundation was established to enhance the relationship between Charles Darwin University and the wider community, and to generate the extra funds needed for the development of a wide variety of programs, projects and infrastructure.
While CDU receives funding from both the Commonwealth and Northern Territory governments for essential recurrent and capital costs, those funds cannot cover all the needs of the University, and its students and staff.
The Foundation encourages donations and other contributions, and guarantees the security of funds raised to promote the University's development.
The Foundation is trustee of the Charles Darwin University Foundation Trust and is a company limited by guarantee, established under a Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.
The Board of Directors comprises the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, three representatives appointed by the University Council, two elected representatives of corporate members and two elected representatives of individual members.
