CDU Waterfront campus project partner, Toga, has announced it will provide $20,000 towards five Indigenous scholarships in 2014

Building on its commitment to foster Indigenous employment opportunities in the Top End, the Toga Group of Companies is pleased to announce it is providing $20,000 towards five Indigenous scholarships at Charles Darwin University (CDU) in 2014.

The five scholarships consist of one apprenticeship in a construction related area and four scholarships to study a Diploma of Engineering. They will be known as the ‘Toga Indigenous Construction Apprenticeship Scholarship’ and the ‘Toga Indigenous Engineering Scholarship’.

Toga CEO Development and Construction Mr Fabrizio Perilli said he was pleased that negotiations with CDU have resulted in such a comprehensive package.

“Since becoming established in the Territory, Toga has maintained an undertaking to advance the work skills of Indigenous employees," Mr Perilli said.

"This is not only in line with our corporate responsibility objectives, but also enforces our commitment to supporting the growth of meaningful Indigenous employment opportunities and strengthening our relationship with the Northern Territory.

"These scholarships are testament to Toga’s ongoing commitment.

“Our strong CDU partnership is warmly embraced and we aim to maintain a high level of support as demonstrated by these Scholarship Agreements throughout the life of the Waterfront Project. This funding will be paid directly to CDU."
