Charles Darwin Senior Secondary top achievers

Four Charles Darwin University Senior Secondary students have made it into the top twenty of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education results released today.

"Today's results have been outstanding for a number of students who richly deserve their achievements and are a great result for all teachers and students in the University's Senior Secondary College," said Annette Jamieson, Director Secondary of Charles Darwin University.

Charles Darwin University's Alice Springs Campus also achieved Alice Springs' top NTCE student with Saul Wakerman being placed second in the Northern Territory overall.

Year 12 student Saul took the top honours with the highest final subject achievement score aggregate of 97 for a maximum of five subjects. Saul's outstanding results were:

  • Biology -19
  • Economics - 20
  • Mathematical studies - 20
  • Physics - 19
  • English studies - 19

Jacqueline Bens was placed fourth overall, Lucy McHugh tenth and Jenna Woodward twelfth.

All four achievers plan to take a well-earned break from study next year, taking time off to work or travel before furthering their academic standing.

In 2006 Mr Wakerman has applied to study media and communications, Ms Bens plans study medicine, Ms McHugh is seeking to commence a double degree in science and languages and Ms Woodward intends to study law or teaching.

The wealth of academic talent continued with 13 Merit Students achieving brilliant results with a perfect score of 20 in their chosen subjects.

Students with achievement scores of 80 and above are:

Jacqueline Bens - 95; Sarah Blackwood - 89; Jacob Drew - 88; Ailise Finlay - 82; Jeremy Grosbois - 87; Katriona Kinsella - 83; Lucy McHugh - 93; Hollie Pezet - 89; Steve Stagg - 80; Alice Swao - 87; Saul Wakerman - 97; Jamie White - 84; Nicholas Wiles - 81; Julia Wilson - 89; Jenna Woodward - 91.
