What would you do if you had the keys
to Darwin and were asked to make it a better place?
Where would you start?
Charles Darwin University’s opening Symposium for 2004, Creative
Tropical City, tackles this idea from 9am tomorrow. Attendance
is free.
To be held at the Mal Nairn Auditorium at the Casuarina Campus,
l ocal, national and international speakers will present some confronting
and unexpected solutions.
“This Symposium is about change. Its about people working
together, its about being inspired by where we live, its about
how we can make Darwin a standout Creative Tropical City,” said
Symposium Convenor, Professor Ian Buchanan.
“Creative Tropical City promises to be two exciting and
challenging days of debate and ideas. Everyone with an interest
in Darwin’s future should attend.”
Chief Minister Clare Martin will provide the opening remarks
at Creative Tropical City as part of the welcome and introduction
session starting from 9am.
Held over two days, the first day will see three topical sessions
including
- Creative Partnerships from 10.45am
- Planning the Creative City from 1.30pm; and
- Creativity Comes in all Forms from 3.45pm.
The Second Day has four sessions including:
- Tropical Knowledge from 9am,
- Creative Economy from 10.45am
- Festivals from 1.30pm: and
- Architecture from 3.45pm
“Woven between the debate are a range of musical performances
and art exhibitions.”
