Office opening hours
The IHD office is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The office is not open during weekends.

Check-in and check-out
Check-in time is from 1pm. Check-out is required by 8am.
These arrangements allow for the logistics of room cleaning and preparation between bookings. Fees apply for late check out.
If you are departing Darwin on a late flight, luggage storage is available and you should contact the office to arrange this.
If you are arriving after office hours, on call staff are available to meet you on arrival at IHD. They can help you to book in and show you to your room. If you are arriving out of office hours please come to the main office (adjacent to the main car park) and use the telephone on the wall to contact the staff member on call.
Resident Leaders
Outside office hours we have Resident Leaders on duty to help with security and any other urgent issues that may arise. The Resident Leaders are on call from 5.00pm to 8.00am every night of the week and on weekends. Issues may include lockouts (note: room lockouts occurring between 10pm and 8am incur a A$20 charge on the resident's account), urgent maintenance issues, noise or other disturbances, medical incidents, safety incidents etc.
Rent
Long term residents are required to maintain their rent account status at two weeks payment in advance. Residents are encouraged to set up a direct debit arrangement to ensure timely rent payments.
Keys
Residents are issued with a room key, a kitchen key, a drawer key and a freezer key. All keys must be returned to the IHD office when departing or the charge for non-returned keys will be taken from your bond money. Replacement room keys will be charged at $44 for each individual key lost or not returned to us. Replacement drawer and freezer keys will be charged at $10 of each lost key.
If you are departing after office hours a key return box is provided outside the IHD office door for your convenience.
Room codes
To gain access to the swimming pool, the computer room, the games room, the TV room and the bicycle shed you will need to have access codes. These will be given to you on arrival to ensure you have proper use of the facilities. If you do not have a required room code, please contact the IHD office.
Please take care to close (and therefore secure) the doors to these coded areas after use. These facilities are for the benefit of residents only and use of security codes helps to protect them and their contents for the benefit of all residents.
Security
Residents should ensure that their room is always locked, especially when left unattended (even if only to make a quick trip to the bathroom or kitchen). Likewise, to ensure security of your food and property residents should ensure that they relock kitchen drawers and communal freezers after use.
Please do not leave valuables such as laptops, wallets, keys and bicycles unsecured or unattended at any time.
