Orientation is held the week before classes start and is aimed at assisting new and returning students in getting familiarised with their environment and surroundings while studying and living at NFIH and CDU. At NFIH we provide an extensive program of activities and events to all new and returning students at NFIH. Each semester we include the familiar and also new activities exclusively to our residents.

Semester 1 2011
New and returning residents of NFIH for Semester 1, 2011 are strongly encouraged to arrive or return to NFIH on Sunday 13 February or Monday 14 February 2011. NFIH reception staff will be available to help you check in on both days.
Arrival on the above dates will allow participation in our special Orientation Program designed to help you become adjusted to life here and involved in a vibrant NFIH community. For new residents, this really is an important part of making the best start you can for your time at NFIH and your university life in Darwin. For returning residents it is a great opportunity to make new friends, help new people to settle into NFIH and generally have a bit of fun before the pressures of study recommence.

To help encourage you to participate in orientation, NFIH will be running a competition. Go into the draw to win heaps of prizes for attending a minimum of 6 nominated orientation activities at NFIH. You will be given an NFIH orientation card with your welcome pack. Complete the card and get at least 6 authorized attendance marks on your card to enter the draw. Prizes will be awarded at the OLD SCHOOL: Best of the 60's, 70's & 80's party on Friday 25 February.
NFIH ORIENTATION PROGRAM - SEMESTER 1 2011
Welcome to NFIH for Semester 1 of 2011! We hope that you will attend as much as possible of the following program which is designed to familiarise you with this environment, to make new friends and most importantly to have some fun. Whether you are new to NFIH or returning, this is a chance to meet others from your community and to win great prizes too!
Monday 14 February
- Quick Campus Tour from NFIH at 2pm, 3pm & 4pm
- Welcome BBQ/sausage sizzle at Sitzler Court 6pm
Tuesday 15 February
- Bus Tours of Darwin departing at 10am & 12.30pm
- Movie Night in the Red Room at 8pm Mad Max
Wednesday 16 February
- Crocodylus Park meet at office to depart at 10am
- Wii Games in the Red Room at 8pm
Thursday 17 February
- Public buses to Casuarina Square, City, Waterfront & Cullen Bay depart 10am, 11am, 12pm & 1pm
- Board Games Night in the Red Room at 7pm
Friday 18 February
- Careers morning 10am - 12pm & essay writing tips 1pm – 3pm
- Free Shuttle buses to Casuarina Square from office 5.30pm - 9pm
Saturday 19 February
- Yoga/Pilates in the Red Room 10.30am
- Movie Afternoon/Night in the Red Room 3pm & 7pm The Dish & Wolf Creek
Sunday 20 February
- Quick Campus Tour from NFIH at 3.30pm
- Movie Night in the Red Room at 8pm Looking for Alibrandi
Monday 21 February: “Welcome Day”
Meet on the Central Lawns from 9.30am for Official Welcome, games & information sessions. A range of activities will be held in The Red Room, Building 3, Building 6 & Sitzler Court. Free morning/afternoon tea & lunch is provided to all participants. PRIZES!!
Tuesday 22 February: “Out and About Day”
- CDU sport & Yoga/Pilates in the Red Room from 10am, juices at 11.30am
- Afternoon - offering a choice of outings, sign up at the office.
Wednesday 23 February
- CDU Casuarina Campus Orientation
- Games Night in the Red Room from 8pm
Thursday 24 February
- CDU International Student Orientation Day 9am - 4pm
- Free Shuttle buses to Monsoon Markets 5pm – 8pm
Friday 25 February
- Enrolment session at CDU from 9am - 11am
- Committee/club meetings
- OLD SCHOOL: Best of the 60's, 70's & 80's party at Sitzler Court from 6pm – free dinner, games & entertainment PRIZES!!
Saturday 26 February
- Free Shuttle buses to Parap Market 9am – 12 pm
- Movie Night in the Red Room at 7pm
Sunday 27 February
- Free Shuttle buses to Rapid Creek & Nightcliff Markets from 9am – 11am
- Movie Night in the Red Room at 8pm
