Orientation Workshops

As part of the University’s commitment to ensuring that staff are informed about matters related to their health, safety and workplace behaviours, you are required to complete all compulsory training workshops. You will receive an invitation to attend the various workshops. On receipt of the email invitation you are requested to accept the invitation or register for your preferred workshop date and time (as shown below) by emailing: orientation@cdu.edu.au

Compulsory Workshops

Ergonomics in the Workplace

This online unit provides an introduction to ergonomic principles, primarily in the context of using screen-based equipment, with emphasis on the efficient use of the musculoskeletal system. It includes advice for optimising posture, on how to identify risk factors and how to reduce the likelihood of injury.

Completion of this unit is compulsory. New staff members will be enrolled as part of the Orientation process and the online unit can then be accessed via Learnline.

Fire Awareness and Emergency Evacuation

This online unit provides an introduction to the University's Emergency Management Plan, including information about the Warden structure (Emergency Control Organisation), the Evacuation Procedure, emergency responses for fire and other emergency situations, basic principles of fire and and the selection of first response fire fighting equipment (e.g. fire extinguishers).

Completion of this unit is compulsory. New staff members will be enrolled as part of the Orientation process and the online unit can then be accessed via Learnline.

Cross Cultural Training

This session will consider differences by clarifying understanding, exploring the impact of history on current issues in Indigenous communities, outlining models for cultural comparison and establishing key principles for cross cultural work. It will also examine ways of organising family, networks and relationships and the implications for those engaging with Indigenous communities.
