Roles and positions
Roles are to be understood as quite distinct from a 'position profile'.
Position profiles have a position number attached; a 'role' does not.
The description of a 'role' applies to an undertaking that the person has in addition to their 'position'. For example an employee may hold the 'position' of senior lecturer as well have a 'role' as a theme leader, a champion or any of a number of other 'roles'.
In general it is not intended that a 'role' will be held for the duration of the person’s tenure, but may pass to another member of staff periodically.
Please note: a VET advisor is a 'role' and not a 'position'.
Position profiles will now include, under Roles and Accountabilities section, a note that states that roles listed: 'are not exhaustive and may include others as directed from time to time'.
