Payment of salaries and wages

Salaries and wages are paid fortnightly, directly into bank, building society or credit union accounts. The fortnightly pay cycle commences start of business Thursday and ends at close of business on a Wednesday with payday on the following Thursday.

Employees may request that their salary be disbursed to a number of accounts. Salary payments can be deposited into several accounts if required.

The University will, upon written request, arrange for fortnightly deductions to some external agencies i.e. health funds, Power and Water Authority, TIO. To arrange deductions contact one of the Senior Personnel Officers (salaries) in People Development and Management.

How to interpret your pay slip

The top of the payslip displays the staff member's payroll number, name, location, classification and base annual salary.

The Salary, Allowances and Overtime section displays details of the break-up of the pay, however this area only allows for three lines of data to be shown, so all information may not be included.

The Payment Summary section lists the total salary, allowances and overtime, tax, superannuation, deductions and nett pay for the fortnight. YTD totals for each item are shown in the next column.

A break up of deductions and superannuation contributions are displayed in the next column across the page. The last column displays the University's contributions to superannuation on the staff member's behalf and any amounts disbursed to bank/building society/credit unions on behalf of the staff member.
