In accordance with CDU's commitment to increasing the number of Indigenous employees at Charles Darwin University PMD has implemented a comprehensive range of programs to create pathways for prospective new staff and to develop our existing staff.
Indigenous apprenticeships
CDU is currently piloting an innovative Indigenous employment program by employing a number of apprentices across the University in a range of training packages including Business Administration, Children’s Services, Agriculture, Information Technology and Horticulture. The apprentices commenced on 9 July for a period of 24 months with funding supported by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. The intention is for each apprentice to become part of the permanent workforce at CDU upon successful completion of the program during which participants complete a certificate III. The apprenticeships were open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from the Northern Territory. Find out more >>
Vice-Chancellors Indigenous cadetships
Each year CDU employs one Indigenous cadet for 36 months with financial support from the National Indigenous Cadetship Program. Each cadet is enrolled in a full-time higher education degree course at CDU and must complete 12 weeks paid work placement per year at various locations throughout the University relevant to their degree.
