Signing on with the University
People Management and Development (PMD) have developed a new sign-on process. As such, on your first day of work at the University you will be required to attend a sign-on appointment. As such, you will need to bring the following information with you for your sign-on:
- Your original letter of offer (signed by yourself) if not already sent to PMD;
- Your Tax File Number;
- Your bank account details;
- Proof of identity (drivers licence, passport or birth certificate); and
- Originals or certified copies of all of your relevant qualifications.

Induction process
The University conducts an induction program for all new employees. The program is designed to:

Formally welcome new employee to the University

Provide new employees with information that will assist them to understand the mission, role and structure of the University

Bring information about the University's support, services and facilities to the attention of new employees
- Introduce new employees to their respective work requirements

Provide new employees with an opportunity to meet some of the University's senior staff and other new staff members. On commencement with the University, new employees are required to register for the next available program.
The induction process consists of:
- Pre-Arrival (establishing requirements, such as: computer access, workspace requirements, relocation, etc.)
- First Day (sign-on with PMD, booking into relevant courses and an introduction to your local work area)
- First Week (meeting with your supervisor work to discuss specific workplace requirements, position responsibilities, reporting chain, internal processes and introduction to workplace colleagues)
- First Month (Confirmation of entire process, identification of problems, introduction to probation and feedback relating to the process).
Induction package and compulsory courses
You will be provided with an induction package when you attend the initial induction meeting. The purpose of meeting with a PMD consultant is to provide you with important information about working in the University. The induction package and courses are designed to ensure that you are made aware of the various safety, legal and ethical issues that surround your employment. A consultant from People Management and Development is also available to assist you with any enquires related to the early stages of your employment.
Induction information and instructions
This induction program is designed to introduce you, the new employee, to the organisational requirements of the University. It is only one part of the overall induction process. The majority of your induction will take place in your local area.
Charles Darwin University has legal obligations to provide new employees with information and training in areas of Equal Employment Opportunity, Health, Safety and Environment (OH&S), People Management and Development (HR) policies, procedures, processes and guidelines, Security and Strategic Directions.
