Research Interests

Improving knowledge, services and policy that support the health and parenting experience of women and their families in Australia and internationally.
  • Focus is on health, particularly primary health care, maternal child health and health services research and systems improvement.
  • Lesley is also acknowledged as a leader in educational systems reform for improvement of health worker education in the Pacific, Melanesia and Indonesia.

Current Projects

  • China, ARC Linkages Project with 2 Provincial Governments- Improving Birth Outcomes in China, consequences and potentials of policy state and professional interactions
  • ARC Networks project Named Investigator with 25 others, Improving the Health of Australian Children; $500,000; ARC network grant
  • Other projects supervised include tendered work, for example on behalf of the NT Government investigating the ‘costs’ of premature self discharge of Indigenous clients from the health services.
