Research Interests

Professor Tony Barnes is a statistician with an outstanding record of achievement in collaborative research projects in a wide range of scientific disciplines and as Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health. Professor Barnes' early career was based in UK government research institutions working on cancer and agricultural research, initially in statistical, computing and operations research roles but rapidly developing into modelling and other quantitative aspects of research into these sciences.

His research interests include:

Current Projects

From January 2004, Professor Barnes is taking up a new position as Director of Economic and Social Analysis, working with both the Northern Territory Department of Treasury and the School for Social and Policy Research to undertake and supervise policy-relevant demographic research.
