2011 HDR Supervisors Workshop

The 2011 Higher Degree by Research Student (HDR) Supervisors' Workshop will be held on:

The workshop is compulsory for all new principal supervisors and for new associate supervisors employed by CDU.

The ideal is that all supervisors attend, to obtain a better perspective of what is anticipated of supervisors by CDU; however we do acknowledge that some co-supervisors are located interstate and overseas, making attendance impractical. In these cases, please contact the Principal Supervisor or Head of School for your research students to discuss the CDU policies and expectations with regard to HDR student supervision.

2010 HDR Supervisors' Workshop

The 2010 Higher Degree by Research Supervisors' Workshop will be held on:

Friday, 18 June 2010
From 1 pm to 5 pm
in Blue 1.1.62, Casuarina Campus

All CDU HDR Supervisors are encouraged to attend.
Those Supervisors who have joined the CDU Register of Supervisors in the past 12 months are asked to attend this workshop if possible.

HDR Supervisor Workshop Program 2010 >>

The presentations will be 10-15 minutes each, and will run from 1 to 3 pm, followed by afternoon tea. The remaining time has been set as an open discussion, led by Bob Wasson (DVC(RI)). The intention of the discussion is to first identify a small number of supervision related issues the attendees would like to raise, and then to discuss these issues as a group.

‘Thesis Management for supervisors’ with Dr Wendy Noble, Applied Linguist - ANU

Wednesday 21 April 2010

11.00am to 1.00pm

Writing a thesis is a major work often accomplished through an intense process. By helping your research student to be accountable to a support team and to meet benchmarks through realistic time management, your student can reach a timely completion. This workshop will introduce you to a simple thesis management program currently helping to improve PhD completions at two Australian Universities.

The 2008 Higher Degree by Research Supervisors’ Workshop was held on Friday, 14 March 2008 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Casuarina campus in Building 22, Room 22.19. The Office of Research & Innovation plans to hold a similar workshop each year.
