What to include in your application
How do I apply?
To apply for a postgraduate research place and/or a scholarship at Charles Darwin University, you will need to obtain an application pack.

In your email you must state your name and address, and request that a research degree application form be sent out to you.
What do I need to include in my application?
If you are a domestic student applying for a masters, PhD program or research professional doctorate and/or a scholarship, you will need to include:
- An application for admission form
- Application for Research Degree, Application for Scholarship form (Attachment A)
- Two referee reports (Attachment B)
- Eligibility doumentation:
- Certified photocopies or a printout of supporting documents including all units/subjects with grades for qualifying degrees. Please provide complete academic transcripts for relevant undergraduate and postgraduate courses NOT testamurs; and/or
- Honours equivalence information and documentation (eg copies of publications). See Principles for gauging honours equivalence for more information.
- Research proposal.
- If you are a permanent resident, but not an Australian citizen, you are required to supply a certified copy of the relevant pages of your passport as proof of residency status.

What qualifications do I need to be eligible?
Doctor of Philosophy and Research Professional Doctorates
You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian bachelor degree with second class honours division A, or an Australian masters degree (with a substantial research component). Alternatively, you may have other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to these degrees.
Masters by Research
You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian bachelor degree with second class honours, or other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to this degree.
Closing dates
If you are applying for a Charles Darwin University scholarship the closing date for domestic student applications is 31 October in any given year. If you are an international student applying for a Charles Darwin University scholarship the closing date for applications is 30 September in any given year.
You will be expected to commence your program of study no later than 31 March in the year for which your award was granted. Special circumstances may enable you to start later (up to 30 June in the year for which your award was granted).
If you are not applying for a scholarship you may submit your application, with supporting documentation, any time throughout the year.
