    What qualifications do I need to be eligible?

    Doctor of Philosophy and Research Professional Doctorates

    You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian bachelor degree with second class honours division A, or an Australian masters degree (with a substantial research component). Alternatively, you may have other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to these degrees.

    Masters by Research

    You must have completed the equivalent of an Australian bachelor degree with second class honours, or other qualifications and/or experience equivalent to this degree.

How do I apply?

To apply for a postgraduate research place and/or a scholarship at Charles Darwin University, you will need to obtain an application pack.

  • International students: check this site or email international@cdu.edu.au (phone +61 8 8946 7215). In your email you should state your name and address, and request that a research degree application form be sent out to you.

Closing dates

If you are applying for a Charles Darwin University scholarship the closing date for domestic student applications is 31 October in any given year. If you are an international student applying for a Charles Darwin University scholarship the closing date for applications is 30 September in any given year.

You will be expected to commence your program of study no later than 31 March in the year for which your award was granted. Special circumstances may enable you to start later (up to 30 June in the year for which your award was granted).

If you are applying for admission only:

  • Semester 1 admissions close on the 31st of March
  • Semester 2 admissions close on the 31st of August

Applications for admission must be complete by those deadlines or your commencment may be delayed.
