Scholarships - General Conditions of Award
Eligibility |

1.1 |
All applicants must be either: |
|
|
|
1.1.1 |
students currently enrolled in a course at the Charles Darwin University; or |
|
|
1.1.2 |
have made an application for admission to commence study at Charles Darwin University in the following semester. |
|
1.2 |
Applicants must enrol to study full time, unless the scholarship information sheets states otherwise or agreement is obtained under exceptional circumstances. |
|
|
1.3 |
Applicants must have an appropriate academic record (where required). An appropriate academic record is deemed to be a credit average and no failed units. |
|
|
1.4 |
Applicants must meet criteria specific to the scholarship as detailed on the scholarship information sheet. |
|
Level of award |

2.1 |
The value of the scholarship shall be as stated on the scholarship information sheet. |
|
|
2.2 |
The term of the scholarship shall be as stated on the scholarship information sheet. |
|
|
2.3 |
Scholarship payments will be made in instalments, after the census date of Semester 1 and Semester 2 and will be subject to confirmation of continuing eligibility. |
|
|
2.4 |
The scholarship payments will be made only to students who are enrolled in a course at Charles Darwin University. |

Details of application |

3.1 |
All applicants must supply their name, current postal address, email address and telephone numbers on the Scholarship Application Form. |
|
|
3.2 |
Where required, all applicants must supply a certified Academic Record, detailing grades obtained for their studies to date. |
|
|
3.3 |
Applicants must include the names and contact details of two referees who will support the application. |
|
|
3.4 |
All applicants must supply details of their proposed program of study for the duration of award of scholarship. |
|
|
3.5 |
All applicants must provide a brief statement in support of their application. This may include any plans for future study or career development. |
|
|
3.6 |
Applicants may submit details of any prizes or awards they have received during their academic study. |
|
|
3.7 |
Applicants may include details of any special circumstances for the Committee’s consideration. |
|
|
3.8 |
Applicants must address all specific eligibility criteria, attaching any additional information to their completed Application Form and submit both to the Scholarships Office by the closing date. |

Selection procedure to be used by the Selection Committee |

4.1 |
All eligibility criteria in section 1 will be verified. |
|
|
4.2 |
Referees requested in section 3.3 may be contacted. |
|
|
4.3 |
A provisional ranking of applicants will be prepared based on the selection criteria specific to the scholarship, as detailed on the scholarship information sheet. |
|
|
4.3 |
The Committee will then prepare a final order of merit list, which incorporates the qualitative details contained in Details of Application, as listed above. |
|
Appeal |
|||
|
5.1 |
Appeals must be submitted to the Chair of the Selection Committee. Appeals will be considered on procedural grounds only. Decisions of the Committee are final and binding. Appeals must be submitted in writing within 14 days of receiving notice of the outcome of the selection procedure. |

Responding to an offer of a scholarship |

6.1 |
Where an offer of a scholarship is made, the recipient must respond to the offer within the timeframes indicated on the letter of offer. |
|
|
6.2 |
Scholarship recipients must sign and agree to the terms stated in their Scholarship Agreement. |
|
|
6.3 |
Scholarship recipients must provide details of a nominated bank account in which their scholarship payments will be directly credited to. |
|
Work placements |
|||
|
7.1 |
If the scholarship includes a work placement component this will be negotiated between the scholarship recipient and the respective company or government department. |
|
Continuing eligibility review |
|||
|
8.1 |
Each semester a continuing eligibility review is conducted for each scholarship recipient in receipt of an ongoing scholarship. This review is to confirm that the recipient has: |

8.1.1 |
Maintained an appropriate academic record. An appropriate academic record is deemed to be a credit average and no failed units. |
|
|
8.1.2 |
Enrolled on a full time basis in the relevant course at Charles Darwin University. |
|
|
8.1.3 |
Fulfilled criteria specific to the scholarship as detailed on the scholarship information sheet. |
|
8.2 |
In the event that a recipient has not met the continuing eligibility criteria they will be notified and provided with the opportunity to submit an appeal to the Chair of the Selection Committee as per section 5.1. |

8.3 |
If no appeal is received from the recipient their scholarship will be discontinued. |
