Preparing for study at CDU
Use the checklist below to help make your transition from high school to uni a smooth and positive one.
Here are some things you can do:
- Be informed about the course you want to study. Understand what exactly is included in your course. Know what you’ll be taught and use the recommended study plan to identify what subjects you will be taking each year.
- Find out about the process to apply (for higher education courses) or enrol (for VET courses).
- Know what the admission requirements are for your chosen course.
- Take note of any deadline dates you need to meet for applications or enrolments.
- Find out when Orientation Day is and ensure you attend so you can meet other students, your lecturers, plus go on tours of the library, campus and find out where your classes will be. There will also be important information delivered from various areas of the university such as Student Services, Support and Equity Services, CDU Sport, the Indigenous Academic Support Unit, faculty deans and the Vice-Chancellor. If you can’t make Orientation Day, take time out to visit the campuses yourself. View maps of CDU campuses.
- Most information you need about CDU is on our website. Ensure you are familiar with navigating around the site for information as it relates to you as a future student and later, as a current student.
- When you become a student, you will receive further information to assist you plus the all-important Student Guide. Ensure you read this booklet and keep it for reference as it will have all the contact details and important information you need as a CDU student.
And most importantly: Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Remember, this is your future. If you don’t understand something, whether it’s information on this website, something you heard at orientation, or the information you receive in class – ask for clarification.
