Natural resourced-based enterprise & local livelihoods

SER is offering a short course on natural resources-based enterprise development. Led by Tony Cunningham, with guest lectures by local experts, this course links theory with practical components.

The lecture series will cover 5 themes:

1) Poverty alleviation and the social context of bush produce enterprises

2) Sustainable harvest issues

3) Economic issues, including value-chains for bush produce enterprises

4) Certification (labelling and cultural branding)

5) Communication research results to different audiences using a range of tools

Who should attend?: This course is targeted for practitioners working with territory, state and local government, NGOs & community groups in natural resource management. This course is an accredited core unit of the Masters in Tropical Environmental Management (MTEM) and attendance can be used toward future CDU courses.

Assumed Knowledge: Post graduate or for working professionals.
Course Presenter: Anthony (Tony) Cunningham, Adjunct Professor, School for Environmental Research

Course Coordinator: Julian Gorman, Research Fellow, School for Environmental Research, specializing in commercial utilization of native products.

Cost: CDU MTEM students $100, external participants $1,100 (GST not charged as classed as professional development and publically available). The cost will include course materials and a 2-days field trip. Registration: Maximum 25 participants.
