Research interestsAdam is an environmental/ecological economist interested in the economic implications of environmental impacts and the development of practical methodologies for the quantification of non-market values. He has been involved in a wide range of natural resource management issues, including: sustainable agriculture and rural development, deforestation, genetic resource and biodiversity conservation (including livestock), water contamination, agrochemical use and human poisonings, climate change, environmental impact assessment and capacity building, participatory planning and appraisal, environmental policy and the use of market-based instruments. Prior to working at CDU, he held a number of positions in Latin America and Africa with the United Nations, national governments, international NGOs, the University of London/DFID and the International Livestock Research Institute (CGIAR); as well as living for many years in a number of Asian countries.
