Research interests

Michael’s research focuses on understanding how catchment management practices, such as fire, weed and grazing management affect the ecology of freshwater ecosystems including tropical rivers, streams, wetlands and riparian zones. Most of his research is focused on aquatic animal (invertebrate and fish) and plant communities and aquatic ecosystem processes. He also has a strong interest in weed management in tropical savannas, particularly in understanding the ecological consequences of exotic grass invasion.
