Harassment
Charles Darwin University is dedicated to an equitable and harassment-free work and study environment. If you are experiencing difficulties at university with a student or staff member, within the areas of unfair treatment, sexual harassment, racism or sexism, there are procedures you can follow to have your problem resolved.
The informal conciliation process is your first step. This involves contacting a university conciliator who will assist you in determining your options and seeking to help to resolve the issue. The university conciliators are volunteer staff members who have undertaken training. This conciliation process is informal and confidential, and based on the principles of fairness, equity and conciliation.
For more information and details about university conciliators, contact Support and Equity Services on 08 8946 6288.
If conciliation fails, formal procedures can be invoked. These involve the complaint being lodged in writing and a grievance committee being established.
A copy of the informal (conciliation) and formal grievance processes and guidelines are available on the internet.
