Biography
Elizabeth Creed’s extensive research skills were gained mainly through employment in the public sector at federal and state level, as well as RMIT University and Charles Darwin University. She has conducted quantitative and qualitative research on a diverse range of topics from the physical condition of public housing, household use of IT, international students at Australian universities, social conditions of Indigenous Australians, and regulation of the funeral industry in Victoria.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences through Monash University, a Graduate Certificate in Australian Indigenous Knowledges through Charles Darwin University, and an RSA Certificate for Teaching English as a Second Language to Adults.
Elizabeth is employed as a Research Associate in the Population Studies Group of the School for Social Policy and Research. Since the beginning of 2007, she has been working on the Northern Territory Mobility Project to explore the factors that influence people’s decisions to come to, remain in, leave or return to the Territory. Over 70 in-depth interviews with past and present NT residents were conducted and Elizabeth’s role has been in data collection, data analysis and dissemination of the results.
Elizabeth’s research interests are reflected in her professional membership of The Australian Sociological Association, the Association for Qualitative Research and the Australian Population Association. She is interested in social research as a means of achieving social justice, especially in the areas of community development, interaction between the social environment and the built environment; and Indigenous issues. She has particular research interest and expertise in qualitative research methods, survey development and questionnaire design.
