Opportunities for post graduate research

The School for Social and Policy Research delivers basic and applied research about social and economic issues affecting northern and remote Australia. We have a dedicated team of research staff and students in the fields of population studies; gambling; education; childhood wellbeing; and regional development.

Applications are invited for PhD candidates to commence with the School in Darwin and Alice Springs.

  • Regional and/or economic development in remote Australia
  • Indigenous tourism development
  • Indigenous education reform
  • Middle school education
  • Social policy as a cultural process
  • Indigenous families and the demands of schooling
  • Social geography of gambling venues
  • Gambling and new/emerging technologies
  • Historical demography of Indigenous populations
  • Workforce planning in the Northern Territory
  • Parenting, early learning, and child wellbeing

Details about PhD enrolment and scholarships are available at the CDU Research Office. Scholarships for international applicants and Australian citizens generally close in September and October respectively each year.
