My Academic Record shows a course GPA. How is this calculated?
The grade point average (GPA) that appears on Charles Darwin University academic records is calculated as follows.
The standard formula for calculating GPA is:
GPA = Total (achievable credit points x grade GPA value)/Total (achievable credit points)
| Grade GPA value - Charles Darwin University | ||
|
Grade GPA Value |
|
HD |
High Distinction |
7 |
D |

6 |
C |

5 |
P |
Pass |

PC |

Example GPA calculation:
A student receives the following grades
HD |
CMA100 |
20 credit point unit |
HD |
CMB102 |
10 credit point unit |
D |
CMC103 |
10 credit point unit |
| Achievable Credit Points x Grade GPA value | Achievable Credit Points | |
| 20 x 7 =140 | 20 | |
| 10 x 7 = 70 | 10 | |
| 10 x 6 = 60 | 10 | |
| Total = 270 | Total 40 | |
Therefore Total (achievable credit points x grade GPA value) / Total (achievable credit points)
= 270/40 = 6.75
GPA is 6.75
Note: The GPA shown on CDU academic records does not include any advanced standing.
I want to attend the graduation ceremony. Do I have to tell anyone or can I just turn up on the night?
All students eligible to graduate will be sent an invitation for the next ceremony. You must respond to your invitation even if you do not plan to attend the ceremony. This will tell us what to do with your testamur. If you do not respond your testamur will be mailed to you approximately two weeks after the ceremony. Students will also be sent a Final Academic Record listing subjects and grades and stating that the student has completed all requirements and is eligible to receive the award.
For more information visit the Graduation website.
I did not attend the graduation ceremony, what happens next?
If you do not attend the ceremony your testamur will be posted to you approximately two weeks after the ceremony. The testamur will be posted to the address the University has for you. It is your responsibility to notify the University if your address has recently changed. This can be done online using My Student Info or by contacting the Information Centre.
