Parking
Free parking, parking permits and pay and display parking are available at the Casuarina and Palmerston campuses. Parking at other campuses and centres is free.
Free parking
Casuarina campus car parks six, seven, 12 and 23 provide free parking. Please refer to campus maps. All motorbike parking (in specified bays only) is free.
Permit parking
You may buy a parking permit for a semester or full year from the cashier in the Information Centre, Orange 1 at Casuarina campus or the Palmerston campus cashiers.
Parking permits cost $55 per semester or $110 per calendar year. Numbers are limited so it is advisable to purchase early. Permits DO NOT guarantee a parking bay at the building you desire to park close to.
Please ensure that the permit is not obscured. Permits are required to be displayed between 7:00am and 7:30pm Monday to Friday.
Pay and display parking
Pay and display parking is available at Casuarina campus in car parks one, three, eight, 11, 14 and 24. You may purchase a voucher from the machine located in the car parks. Costs are:
- 50c per hour
- $1 for three hours
- $1.50 per day
Pay and display vouchers are required between the hours of 7:00am and 7:30pm Monday to Friday and must be displayed clearly on the dashboard of the vehicle. Failure to do so will incur a fine.
Unauthorised parking in authorised only bays
Unauthorised parking in Authorised Only bays, Disabled Parking bays, designated specific purpose bays and in areas not intended for the parking of vehicles will incur a penalty under the Charles Darwin University (Site and Traffic) By-laws.
Please note: Parking on all campuses is regulated by the Charles Darwin University (Site & Traffic) By-laws. All entrances to the university are signposted to advise that Special Parking Regulations apply. Car park areas are also signposted, clearly indicating the type of parking permitted in that area.
The Charles Darwin University (Site and Traffic) By-laws are enforced 24 hours a day as indicated by yellow lines or parking bays with parking signage.
Bicycle parking
Bike racks are situated around university campuses. In accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Charles Darwin University policy, any bicycle found in an area other than a designated bike rack may be 'clamped' by Security.
The owner will then need to contact Security to negotiate release of the bicycle.
Parking offences
It is an offence under section 9 (1) of the Charles Darwin University (Site and Traffic) By-laws to:
- Contravene or fail to comply with a prohibition or requirement indicated by a control device. Fine $35. (A control device means a sign, signal, mark, notice, structure or device erected, installed, placed or displayed on site)
