    Obama discussion
    Assessing Obama's First Term

    A talk to be held at Charles Darwin University tomorrow evening will assess the first term of United States President Barack Obama.

    The talk by one of America's most renowned political experts Professor Ken Mayer will cover Obama's Legacies, Controversies and Re-election campaign.

    Ken Mayer is a Professor from Wisconsin University and has written multiple papers on American politics in journals worldwide and is widely considered to be one of the experts on American politics.

    The talk will be held on Thursday, May 17, from 5pm to 7pm at CDU's Casuarina campus in Building Red 1.3.01.

    Georgia has always dreamed of being a cheerleader. Georgia was diagnosed with a blood disorder and had to have an operation to remove her spleen. Thanks to blood donors, Georgia's dream of being a cheerleader has come true.

    You can help save the lives of others like Georgia. Roll up your sleeves and give blood.
    Most people can give blood if they are feeling fit and well, are aged 16 - 70 and weigh more than 45kg.
    Other criteria may apply.

    Northern Editions Damaged Discount Print Sale

    Our Printmaking team work closely with local Indigenous artists, to help them produce their fine art for showcasing and exhibitions. We have been working with them for early 10 years and pride ourselves on our collaboration with the artists.

    Artist's work are displayed in on various print canvas' such as etchings, woodblocks, screenprints, lithographs and linocuts.

    We currently have a range of fine art prints on sale from Northern Editions Gallery at CDU Casuarina campus.

    The sale will continue until all stock is sold. There will be great prices on slightly damaged or soiled stock.

    Event

    It's on again, the NT Writer's Centre and Australian Poetry presents Wordstorm 2012. The three day event will feature:

    • literary awards
    • workshops
    • free panel discussions
    • book launches
    • the sensational comedy debate
    • poetry from all over the world.

     

    There will also be a full program of children's reading and writing activities. Food and drinks will be available. Most events will be held at Brown's Mart and Civic Park, with a selection of activies available at venues around Darwin city. Collect the full program at the CDU Bookshop. Book online at www.wordstorm.org.au. Wordstorm will be held from 10 - 13 May.


    Schubert's Coffee Shop

    Schubert's Coffee Shop is located on level one of Building Red 1, Casuarina campus, and serves cakes, pastries, muffins, assorted sandwiches/foccacia and beverages.

    Monday to Friday: 8am to 4pm

    Schubert's Cafeteria

    Schubert's Cafeteria is located on level two of Building Red 1, Casuarina campus, and serves a variety of hot meals, light snacks, sandwiches made to order and cold beverages.
    Monday to Friday: 9am to 3pm

    Schuberts Catering Service is the preferred supplier of catering services to the Casuarina campus and as such they have first right of refusal to supply catering services to any function held on this site. Schuberts Catering Services offer an extensive range of set menus and prices, as set out herein and if these are not suitable will work with you to provide suitable alternatives.

    Bar

    Monday to Thursday: 3pm to late (depending on patronage)

    The bar is located on level two adjacent to Schubert's and is the ideal place for staff and students to relax after work or lectures. It is equipped with both inside and outside seating and a pool table.

    Functions

    The staff at Schubert's are happy to provide catering services for any function. An extensive functions menu is available upon request, please feel free to discuss your requirements with Schubert's on 08 8946 6220.     Student Services and Amenities Fee

    Update on the fee: The Federal Government has recently passed legislation that enables universities to introduce a Student Services and Amenities Fee. 

    This legislation allows Universities to charge students a fee up to a maximum of $263 per year from 2012 and indexed on an annual basis. 

    The proceeds from the Fee can only be used by universities to support student amenities, advocacy, representation, and similar activities. Please note that CDU will be charging the Fee to students from 1 January 2012.
