CDU Students' Association

Message from the Vice-Chancellor

CDU recognises the valuable contribution a Students’ Association makes to the overall environment of the University.

Over the next few weeks we are looking to establish a meaningful group that will be representative of our student body.

The aim of such a group is to make significant contributions to promote the welfare and further interests of CDU undergraduate students, in particular to work for quality and equity in higher education.

We are seeking nominations from students who are keen and passionate about student issues.  In turn, these representatives will form the new CDU Students’ Association and work with the University to shape the directions by which we will achieve successful outcomes for students.

Some initial work has been undertaken to prepare a draft Constitution for the CDU Students’ Association and a copy of this is available at http://www.cdu.edu.au/studentportal/docs/CDUstudentassoc_constitution_draft.pdf

The draft Constitution provides an outline of the proposed directions for the CDU Students’ Association.  However, it should be noted that one of the first tasks the elected members will need to undertake is to consider the structure that will best meet the needs of students, and review and refine the draft accordingly for consideration by the University.

The elected officers must work together effectively to represent and support the whole of the undergraduate and VET student body as well as working with relevant national bodies including the National Union of Students.

The timeline for nominations and elections is provided below.  If you have a strong interest in promoting the welfare of students at the University and would like to be involved in the formation of the new CDU Students’ Association then I would encourage you to seek nomination.
