Associate Professor Martin Carroll
Associate Professor Martin Carroll is a specialist in quality assurance in the higher education sector. He has been Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic since April 2010.
Prior to joining CDU, Associate Professor Carroll spent about four years as Consulting Director with the Oman Accreditation Council (OAC). In this role, he was responsible for redesigning and implementing a comprehensive, national quality management system for the higher education sector comprising more than 60 institutions.While on the Arabian Peninsula, he also consulted to other countries, and was the lead consultant in establishing the Universities Quality Assurance International Board in Dubai.
Before to his appointment in Oman, Associate Professor Carroll was an Audit Director at the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA). He guided more than 12 audits of the quality systems of Australian universities and state-based higher education accrediting agencies. He also led the establishment of Australia's national database of good practices in higher education and the formation of the Australian Universities Quality Forum, which he chaired twice.
While working in his native New Zealand, he was the Quality Manager and Chief Internal Auditor at Victoria University of Wellington, where he also lectured on management.
