Teaching and Learning Champions

The role of Teaching and Learning Champions

The University has established School and Division Champions for its core business areas, including Teaching and Learning.

Champions have a number of roles and functions in common, irrespective of the particular core business area they are associated with, which include:

  • Scanning the scene
  • Maintaining particular relationships internally and externally
  • Having and capturing ideas
  • Sharing knowledge
  • Communication
  • Exercising judgement
  • Facilitating the development of tactics and projects together with the Head of School or Head of Division
  • Providing input to Faculty, Division and Executive for development of processes

Additional specific roles for Teaching and Learning Champions are:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of Teaching and Learning policy across the whole School/Division
  • Assist the development of University, Faculty, Division/School Teaching and Learning Management Plans
  • Lead Teaching and Learning innovation and quality assurance within the School/Division
  • Liaise regularly and work with TLQG to facilitate communication and roll out key innovations within the School/Division
  • Be aware of and involved in AQTF and AUQA audits and responses as required
  • Interact with relevant areas of the University (e.g. TLQG, Information Services, Students Services) as required
  • Become involved in University-wide projects on Teaching and Learning, such as the identification and delivery through curriculum of identified graduate attributes and student-centred and resource-based approaches to learning and assessment
  • Serve on Teaching and Learning Panel, as required
  • Participate in course accreditation/re-accreditation processes and scoping exercises
  • Involvement in common units teaching where the TLC is in a school that is involved in this area

This list is intended to provide the overview of the roles of the Teaching and Learning Champion which should be focussed and shaped to the School/Division in consultation with the Head of School.
