National HE Teaching Awards, Fellowships & Grants
TLDG provides support for academic staff in applying for a range of teaching awards, fellowships and grants that recognise and facilitate excellence in teaching practice.

National HE Teaching Awards
- ALTC Awards – The Australian Learning & Teaching Council Awards program recognises excellence in learning and teaching in Australian higher education. The program currently comprises Citation Awards, Program Awards, Teaching Awards, a Prime Minister’s Award and a Career Achievement Award.
- ASCILITE Awards – The ASCILITE Awards are open to ASCILITE members and are presented at the ASCILITE conference each year. They are designed to reward exemplary use of electronic technologies in teaching and learning in tertiary education.
- B-HERT Awards – The Business/Higher Education Round Table (B-HERT) awards recognise outstanding achievements between business and higher education in three areas: Outstanding Collaboration Achievement in either Research & Development or Education & Training; Best Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year; Outstanding Philanthropic Support of Higher Education.
National HE Fellowships
- ALTC Fellowships – The Australian Learning & Teaching Council Fellowship Scheme is designed to advance learning and teaching in higher education by supporting leading educators to undertake strategic, high profile fellowship activities that address a significant educational issue and develop their personal skills and profile.
- HERDSA Fellowship Recognition and Development Scheme – This scheme recognises and supports higher education teaching that satisfies a set of quality standards and criteria. It also builds on that recognition through advanced professorial development activities designed to ensure that the standards are maintained and extended.
National HE Grants
- ALTC Grants – The Australian Learning & Teaching Council grants scheme is designed to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in higher education, facilitate innovation and disseminate best practice. It comprises three grants programs: competitive grants, priority projects and leadership for excellence in learning and teaching. CDU has an internal application process for interested staff. - ASCILITE Research Grant – Each year one ASCILITE Research Grant is offered to ASCILITE members who are new or early researchers. The grant is designed to encourage new research, small projects or pilot programs, support new and early researchers and help them gain national and international recognition.
- Canadian Studies Grants – The Canadian High Commission in Canberra administers the Government of Canada's Canadian Studies Program in Australia and New Zealand. The program provides research and teaching grants aimed at supporting the development of teaching, research and publications about Canada in tertiary institutions.
