Where is uniprint Express available?
The full uniprint Express service (Multi-function Printing Devices and Print Release Stations) is available at:
- Casuarina library
- Palmerston library
- Casuarina general purpose student computing labs Orange 1, level 3.
The service is also available in these areas with existing CDU printers, where students will continue to provide their own paper:
- Casuarina and Palmerston faculty teaching labs
- Palmerston general purpose student computing labs.
How do I obtain instructions on using the new equipment?
Instructions for printing, photocopying and adding credit to accounts will be clearly posted at all uniprint Express print/copy locations.
How do I activate my print account?
If you are an enrolled student your print account will not require activation to access network printing. If it is the first time you are photocopying you will be asked to choose (and reconfirm) a four digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you swipe your ID card at the photocopier swipe key pads.
How do I use my credit for photocopying?
In order to use the credit on your card for photocopying, swipe your student ID card at the keypad attached to all the copiers followed by your PIN number. When this is completed your current credit will be displayed and you will be able to copy what you require.
How do I know what my credit amount is?
You can check your credit balance at the Casuarina and Palmerston libraries service desk or the reception desk at uniprint NT, Green 1.
How do I add credit to my print account?
You may add credit to your print account via the EFTPOS terminal at the information desk of the Casuarina and Palmerston libraries or use the reload machines located at Casuarina and Palmerston libraries.
Note: Credit adding facilities are not available in the computer labs. It is important that you have enough credit on your account prior to using these facilities.
If I pay via EFTPOS, how long will it take to credit my account?
It is exactly the same as using any other EFTPOS transaction. Funds will be immediately added to your print account.
Are there fees for adding money to my account via EFTPOS?
There are no associated costs from the University passed onto students for EFTPOS transactions.
Is there a change machine?
Not at this stage, may become a future development if necessary.
What do I do if I have forgotten my PIN number?
Take your student ID card to the service desk at the Casuarina or Palmerston libraries or to uniprint NT (Green 1) and they will reset it for you.
What do I do if the system says my card is 'locked'?
This generally occurs:
- If you are currently logged onto a copier/printer and try to use another copier/printer at the same time
- If you repeatedly enter an incorrect PIN.
If the problem persists a staff member can unlock your account and if necessary reset your PIN.
What do I do if the printer station screen doesn’t respond after I have swiped my card in the reader?
Move the mouse so the screen will no longer be in sleep mode. Then swipe your card through the terminal, holding it back to front with the dark magnetic strip at the bottom (as displayed on the reader).
I’m not currently enrolled as a student, can I still have access to copy and print?
If you are a casual borrower at the Casuarina or Palmerston libraries you may purchase a casual user card for the cost of two dollars, this will give you access to the photocopiers only. At this stage there is no network printing available via the casual copy card. The card account does not expire and can be used throughout the semester. Credit can be added via the EFTPOS terminal at the information desk of the Casuarina and Palmerston libraries or at the cash reload machine located in the photocopy room.
What do I do if there is a paper jam and I was charged for a print or copy that I did not get?
Speak to a library staff member. They will verify the problem and refund the credit to your account if required.
If the problem occurs after hours you may have to resend your printing to another printer. Log onto the uniprint express webpage and fill in Online fault report / request for service, or when the library is open, fill out a Credit Claim Form for processing.
Can I make copies onto transparencies?
A designated copier/machine has been set up in the Casuarina library in short term loans room Red 8, level 1. Do not supply your own transparencies – the machine is already pre-loaded. Uniprint NT will also print transparencies for you.
Where are the colour printers located?
The colour printers/machines are located at the Casuarina and Palmerston libraries and also in the main computer lab, Orange 1, Casuarina campus.
What are the opening hours for the libraries and computer labs?
