The Northern Territory is home to two of Australia’s most iconic geographical features: Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kakadu National Park. Uluru is located about 300 km from Alice Springs and Kakadu is about a three-hour drive from Darwin.

Other major natural attractions include the West McDonnell Ranges (near Alice Springs), Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) and Mataranka’s thermal pools. Litchfield National Park, about a 90-minute drive from Darwin, is renowned for its waterfalls and lush rainforest walks.
Darwin's Mindil Beach Markets are open in the Dry Season, from Thursday, April 30, 2009, and are a favourite with locals and visitors alike.
The annual Darwin Festival, from August 13 to 30, 2009, showcases the arts, music and dance of the Top End and South East Asian regions. The Alice Desert Festival, from September 11 to 20, 2009, showcases the thriving community of visual and performing artists of the Central Australian region.
