International Public Forum on Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change: The Tropical Australian Experience
Thursday, 3 April 2008 from 2.30pm - 6.00 pm
The outcomes of this Public Forum are intended to contribute to the United Nations International Expert Group Meeting on Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change* which will be held from 2 to 4 April 2008 in Darwin, Australia. Members of the Expert Group will also be attending the public forum.
Topics addressed will include:
- Effects of climate change on indigenous peoples
- Adaptation measures to climate change
- Carbon projects and carbon trading
- Overview of the UN Expert Meeting
This event will be followed by a social function from 6.00pm - 7.00 pm.
The International Public Forum on Indigenous Peoples and Climate Change: The Tropical Australian Experience is being organised by Charles Darwin University (CDU), the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS), and the North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA).
