Professor Mal Nairn AM
Who is Mal Nairn?
Professor Mal Nairn became the Inaugural Vice-Chancellor of NTU in 1989 and oversaw an important formative period in the development of the Territory’s only university. He was a passionate believer in the benefits of multi-sector universities and made important decisions regarding the early growth of Indigenous education at the University.
Mal Nairn also pushed hard for NTU to become a truly regional university serving tertiary education needs across the Northern Territory and into Asia and beyond. Those who worked with him at NTU described his tenure was beneficial for the university at that time.
