Scholarships Glossary
The terms used in Scholarships are described below. The relationships between data, and concepts used in this facility, are explained in detail in Understanding Scholarships.

| Administrative Start/End Date | The last day on which scholarships can be applied for via SMS for this Scholarship Offering Instance. This overrides the end date alias in the Scholarship Configuration. Recorded for a scholarship offering instance in SCHF0510. |
| APAPPLLST | Applicant Portal screen where an Applicant's Course and Scholarship applications are listed.- See Scholarships in Applicant Portal. |
| Applicant | Person applying for a Scholarship. Details can be found in SCHF1010. |
| Application Final Date | Final Date on which an Application for a Scholarship Offering Instance can be submitted. The date alias for this event is defined in ADMF0900. |
| Application Rank | Numerical sequence of Applications in an order if eligibility. i.e. Most Eligible Application is ranked 1. Rank is displayed and can be adjusted in SCHF1050. |
| Application Source | ADMIN for Scholarship Applications created directly via SCHF1020 and ONLINE for ones created through Applicant Portal. |
| Application Start Date | First Date on which an Application for a Scholarship Offering Instance can be submitted. The date alias for this event is defined in ADMF0900. |
| APSCEPOSED | Applicant Portal screen where an applicant answers eligibility questions specific to a particular Scholarship Application. - See Scholarships in Applicant Portal. |
| APSCHDTL | Applicant Portal screen where a Scholarship Applicant's Details such as Citizenship Type, Address and various ID numbers are recorded. - See Scholarships in Applicant Portal. |
| APSCHSEL | Applicant Portal screen which displays all Scholarships for which an Applicant is eligible or has selected for application. - See Scholarships in Applicant Portal. |
| APSCRPSED | Applicant Portal screen where an applicant answers Pre-Selection Eligibility Criteria questions. - See Scholarships in Applicant Portal. |
| Bulk Offer | A function in SCHF1050 which allows the user to make a set number of offers to the highest ranked applicants for a Scholarship Offering Instance. |
| Bulk Verification | The Bulk Verification Job SCHJ0400 verifies Person Scholarships, as defined by the job parameters |
| CHESSN | Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number. May be recorded in SCHF1010 or by the applicant in APSCHDTL. |
| Deferral | Acceptance of a Scholarship in a future Offering Instance. |
| Deferral Period | Future Offering Instance of a Scholarship into which an applicant can defer a current offer. Deferral Periods, available for a Scholarship Offering Instance, are defined in SCHF0395. |
| Derived Score | The default score for a particular response for an eligibility criterion as defined in SCHF0111 and displayed in SCHF1040. |
| Eligibility Code | A code to uniquely identify an Eligibility Criterion used in the scholarship application process. |
| Eligibility Criteria | Criteria by which an Applicant's eligibility to receive a Scholarship are measured. These are defined for a Scholarship Offering Instance in SCHF0520. |
| Eligibility Criteria Response | An applicant's response to an Eligibility question. |
| Intermission | Period of time during which a student takes a break from their studies. Scholarship persons will be given an Activity Status of INTERMIT during this time (in SCHF1200) and will not receive scholarship payments. |
| Management Period | A scholarship management calendar instance related to a Person Scholarship in which verification and scholarship payment activity occur. |
| Manual Verification Criteria | Verification Criteria which cannot be tested automatically by Verification Rules. These criteria must be manually assessed and their outcomes recorded in SCHF1210. |
| Override Score | The score awarded for a particular response for an eligibility criterion instead of the default one. Recorded and displayed in SCHF1040. |
| Payment Method | A code that identifies a permitted payment method - the manner in which payments can be made to persons holding scholarships for the specified scholarship offering instance. Codes are defined in SCHF0310 and recorded for a Scholarship Offering Instance in SCHF0610. |
| Payment Source | A name that identifies the details that define an institution's financial system payment source for scholarship payments. Defined in SCHF0315 and recorded for a scholarship version in SCHF0500. |
| Response Score | Score for a Response to an Eligibility Question. |
| Scholarship Calendar | An instance of a Calendar of Type SCHOLARSHP, in which the Scholarship version is offered. |
| Scholarship Category | Categories defined by an institution to classify Scholarships in SCHF0500 |
| Scholarship Code | Unique name for a Scholarship. Defined in SCHF0500. |
| Scholarship Offering | A Scholarship available in a particular calendar. e.g. Alcoa Summer scholarship. Defined in SCHF0510. |
| Scholarship Offering Instance (SOI) | An instance of a Scholarship Offering. e.g. Alcoa Summer 2008 scholarship. Defined in SCHF0510. |
| Scholarship Status | The status of a Scholarship Version. Recorded in SCHF0500 |
| Scholarship Version | A type of Scholarship. Defined in terms of a Scholarship Code and a Version number. Defined in SCHF0500. |
| TAC ID | The Applicant's Tertiary Admissions Centre identifier. May be recorded in SCHF1010. |
| Termination Code | The Scholarship Termination Code identifies the reason for termination of a person's scholarship. The code may be selectedfor a person scholarship in SCHF1200 and reported in Government Statistics for Commonwealth Scholarships. Termination codes are defined in SCHF0400 and map to a Government Scholarship Termination Codes which are defined in STAF1133. |
| Verification | The process of assessing a person's ongoing elibility to retain a scholarship. May be determined in terms of rules or manual criteria defined for a Person Scholarship in SCHF0600. Outcomes of verification for a Person Scholarship Management Period are displayed in SCHF1210 |
| Verification Code | Identification Code for a Manual Scholarship Verification Criterion. Defined in SCHF0355 and selected for a Scholarship Offering Instance in SCHF0600. |
