This form is used to define government fields of education that are reported to the government as element 461, 462 and 463. These codes are mapped to institution defined field of study codes in CRSF1140. Fields of Study may be recorded for a course version in CRSF1260. Course Version fields of study are reported to the government as elements 461 and 462 in the Field of Education extension of the HE Course data group Fields of Study may also be recorded for a candidature in RESF3211, for a unit set in CRSF4240 or for a Course Version in CRSF1260. Government reporting for element 463 in HE Course Admissions data group may source data from these locations. Refer to HE Course Admissions for more details |

To create a new government field of education code using the Maintain Field of Education form:

To delete a government field of education record using the Maintain Field of Education form:

Rules/Notes: If a government field of education code has been used in the definition of a course, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
To modify a government field of education record using the Maintain Government Field of Education form:

Rules/Notes: If a government field of education code has been assigned to a course, only the description can be modified. The description should only be modified where the change is minor. A new government field of education code should normally be created. A government field of education code can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
