This form is used to display information on the activities performed by a Connect user when accessing and using Student or Staff Connect and any of its applications. These activities can be errors, warnings or information. The form is typically used when a Connect user advises that they cannot access Connect or a particular application (for example: Results). Users can query the Connect user's record and provide advice on the reasons for the problems experienced. For example: a student may be unable to access the Results application and seeks assistance from the Student Help Desk. Viewing their Activity Log might reveal that there is not a valid Cohort Process Window for the student or that they have a Results Block Encumbrance applied.

The activities recorded in the activity log are those where the ‘Record in Activity Log’ and 'Display in Activity Log Form (SSFF4000)' check boxes have been selected for the Self-Serve Message in Maintain System Message (GENF0003).

If a self serve message has not been recorded, the system message is inserted by default. Where an activity is not to be recorded, a self serve message must be recorded for the activity and the Include in Activity Log check box not selected.

To filter the records displayed, type entries into the fields in the Filter block and click on the Filter button. The filtered records will display in the Results block below. A tooltip is available for Hover the mouse over a Filter field to display a tool tip for the filter field. To clear the search fields from your latest filter, click on the Clear button.

To display further details for a particular row in the Results block, click on the Details button for that row and select the tab appropriate to your inquiry.

To prevent large numbers of records from being displayed, a process can be run to remove all logged messages older than a specified number of days. For example: the process could be run once a week to remove any messages that are older than seven days. For further details refer to Delete Self Serve Activity Log process (SSFJ0010).

To inquire on a Student Connect User's transactions, use SSFF4200.
To inquire on an Applicant Portal or Agent Applicant Portal user's activity log, use SSFF4100.

Perform a query to retrieve a Connect user's Person ID. Details include the date and time the transaction was performed, what the transaction was and the message number.

Rules/Notes:

The Start date/time and End date/times define a range of time over which messages were created. The start and end times indicate the hour and minute plus 00 seconds. For example, if the start time was 16:30 and the end time was 16:31 of the same date, then the system would find all messages with a creation time between 16:30:00 and 16:31:00 on that date.

This results for the activity log for the student are displayed in reverse chronological order (ie. most recent first).

Selecting the Detail button for a message will display a screen with three tabs:

  • Overview tab displays a summary of the message and the user’s platform (such as browser and operating system)
  • Parameters tab displays an extract of the parameters from the Key in a list format
  • Key tab displays the Key information. The Unit Offering Options (UOO_ID) codes have been converted to unit code and teaching period so that users can easily identify, and search for, activity concerning specific unit codes.
