Studying architecture develops theoretical and practical skills in designing the built environment – buildings and their surroundings. Design ability is increasingly valued for its capacity to make real changes to our cities, workplaces, and homes. Design involves solving complex problems by applying creative solutions and is at the forefront of skills required to meet the future environmental challenges affecting human habitation.

Career opportunities

Graduates are prepared for a professional career in the architectural design industry. In addition the course provides a pathway for students who wish to gain entry into Masters of Architecture as well as other postgraduate programs in disciplines such as urban design, planning, landscape and interior architecture. Roles and areas where graduates find employment include:

Study options

The Bachelor of Design focuses on the integration of design theory, project-based investigation, and architectural construction. Emphasis is placed on design for hot humid tropical climates and it affords students unique learning opportunities as a result of this geographical location.
