COVID-19 information

Updates for CDU Students

We are committed to providing our staff, students and the community with updates on the COVID-19 situation and we monitor closely the information from the Government on relevant health and safety advice.

It remains important for all people stay home when unwell to limit the spread of infection and protect the community. This applies not just to COVID-19 but all illnesses. Changes to public health measures are a timely reminder for everyone to stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations to make sure they have the best protection.

When you come to campus, please make sure you:

The wellbeing of our CDU community is our most important priority. We all have a role to play in minimising the spread of COVID and keeping our communities safe.

    Protecting yourself from COVID-19
    • Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations.
    • Get tested - no matter how mild your symptoms are.
    • Stay at home while you have symptoms, so you don’t infect other people.
    • Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres away from others where possible. Consider wearing a mask in crowded situations.
    • Know your risk with COVID-19 or influenza, for example if you have a chronic health condition. Discuss with your doctor what you should do if you get symptoms, including if they recommend you take antiviral medication.
    • Prepare a COVID-19 kit and care plan.
What to do if you are a close contact

There are simple steps you can take to reduce the risk to others:

You should only attend CDU campuses and facilities provided you have no COVID-19 symptoms and feel well. You may attend a CDU location, but it is strongly recommended that you:

    • Closely monitor yourself for symptoms
    • If symptoms present remove yourself from the workplace and take a test
    • Maintain good hygiene practices - Washing your hands regularly with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
    • If you cannot maintain 1.5 metre distance or are attending a large group setting wear a mask.
    • Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) may help you to identify the infection early.
    • Avoid contact with people who are at risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
    • It is recommended you don’t visit people at high risk of severe illness, anyone in hospital, or an aged or disability care facility.
    Testing positive for COVID-19
    • If you are based in the territory, you should register your test results with NT Health. Check the registration requirements for your location.
    • If you test positive, whether or not you have symptoms, you should not attend a CDU campus for at least 5 days, positive cases which have mild, or no symptoms should discuss with their supervisor if work from home for this period is possible.
    • Positive cases that are displaying symptoms and are not well enough to work from home should be taking personal leave as per any other injury or illness.
    Testing negative for COVID-19

If you test negative using a rapid antigen test (RAT), there is no need to isolate, however monitoring for symptoms and taking precautions, such as wearing a face mask when outside your home is recommended as there can be a delay in receiving a positive result.
