Internal students

Students undertaking Professional Experience within 80 kms of Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs & Katherine enrolled both internally and externally have their placement organised through the CDU Professional Experience Office and complete their placement in a Teaching school. Students in these regions are required to nominate a preferred school/area. They also prepare a profile statement that indicates their interests, any expertise that they bring to the classroom. The Professional Experience Office will negotiate with schools to determine a suitable placement.

Students should not approach schools directly to organise their placement.

External students

This refers to the preservice Teachers who live outside NT.

You need to organise your own Professional Experience (placement).

  • Contact the Principal of a local school to determine their willingness to host you as a Preservice Teacher.
  •  If visiting a school to make an appointment, dress professionally
  • You may have to travel further than your local area when seeking a placement
  • On approval negotiate placement in a classroom with a Mentor Teacher, then complete the nomination.
