Non-academic entry requirements

All initial teacher education providers are required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) to use a transparent, credible and explicit process for the non-academic assessment of all initial teacher education program applicants.  When applying to enrol in one of our nationally accredited programs, students are required to complete an assessment to enable the evaluation of your non-academic capabilities in the following areas:

  • motivation to teach,
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills,
  • willingness to learn,
  • resilience,
  • self-efficacy,
  • conscientiousness, and
  • organisational and planning skills.

It will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete your assessment.

This assessment is for Summer Semester 2018 applications only. If you are applying for Semester 1 2019 or afterwards, this assessment is to be completed via the SATAC application process and is called the Teacher Capability Statement.
