Territorian takes up financial reins

By Robyn McDougall

A life-long Territorian has taken up the role of Chief Financial Officer of Charles Darwin University. Ms Anne Coulter joined the university last Monday after eight years as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Darwin Port Corporation.

A graduate of CDU’s predecessor institution, the Northern Territory University, Ms Coulter became a Chartered Accountant in 2001.

In welcoming the new CFO to CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Simon Maddocks said that while at the Darwin Port Corporation Ms Coulter’s achievements included transforming the port business from a loss-making operation into posting record profits, and taking a lead role in the implementation of a new port management information system that transformed the way the port conducted its business from front end customer interface through to invoicing.

Before joining Darwin Port Corporation Ms Coulter operated her own financial services business, was Manager of Accounting Services in the Northern Territory’s former Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment, and was a senior accountant with Ernst and Young.

Professor Maddocks also thanked Mr Ken Suter for stepping into the role of CFO during the past year.

“Ken has brought to the position great expertise and an innate steadiness that comes from his extensive experience in the financial sector,” Professor Maddocks said.

Mr Suter will finish in the position on 2 December.
