A student who receives inspiration from her interactions with people from Africa has received a prestigious leadership scholarship.

Bachelor of Social Work student Rebecca Tshibangu was awarded this year’s Charles See Kee Leadership Scholarship, which assists students who have resettled in Australia for humanitarian reasons.

Ms Tshibangu arrived in Australia in 2013 after spending 13 years in a refugee camp in Botswana following her flight from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

NT Minister for Multicultural Affairs Peter Styles said Ms Tshibangu had a keen interest in women’s issues and was involved in family programs for refugees at the Melaleuca Refugee Centre.

Applications for the Charles See Kee Leadership Scholarship are managed by CDU with scholarship applications opening each year in November and closing early March.
