Two design students have received awards as part of this year’s Master Builders Northern Territory Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.

Melissa Robinson and Helena Hainz were joint winners of the Excellence in Student Building Design and Drafting award sponsored by CDU.

This event recognises excellence in building and construction from the smallest renovation to the largest commercial project in the NT.

The winners were judged on their drafting in accordance with architectural conventions, the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, local government planning and construction regulations.

They were also assessed on design in accordance with best practice techniques including passive cooling techniques, circulation patterns and interior layout design, innovation in material use, energy efficient design, quality of aesthetics and balance between site, exterior and interior spaces in accordance with the design brief.
